How It Works
To give you a better idea of the processes we go through during the development of your website we usually follow these steps:
Free Initial Consultation
During the initial consultation, we will discuss your business or business plan, we need to get a good idea of what you do in order for us to create the best possible web presence for your business. If you're just starting, or if you have little knowledge about the Internet or E-commerce, we can give you advice and guidance on your options, and the possibilities (and pitfalls) of using the Internet to grow your business. By the end of the initial consultation, we should have a good idea of what you want from your website, and can then go away and start the development process.
Prototype Stage (try before you buy)
Before we go full steam ahead with developing your site, we will create a mock site created using your suggestions from the initial consultation, this will allow you to decide on colour schemes, layout and navigation before we get too far into the project. We can either host the mock site using your existing domain name, or on our own server under a sub domain, i.e. yourbusiness.applecraft.co.uk if you do not yet have a domain name. If you are not sure about an aspect of the mock site, we'll just keep making adjustments until you entirely happy. When you are comfortable with the general appearance of the site, we can progress to the next stage.
Pre-Developmental Stage
When you are happy with the general direction of the project, we will have another consultation to find out exactly what will be required of the site, including features such as, number of pages, animation, E-commerce capabilities, updatablility, statistics, etc. We can then come up with a quote for total costs, and a completion date. If you are happy with all this, we will need a deposit of 10% of the total fee, and then we can progress to the next stage.
Development Stage
Here we go! We can now start developing the site, we use an iterative process to develop all our sites, this means we develop a fully working site, test it, evaluate it, and present the site to you for feedback then use the findings to go back and improve the construction, functionality, usability and appearance of the site. We continue with this process until you are happy with the results.
Completion Stage
Once we have produced a fully working website, we will upload it to the server for you. We will then discuss your options with you, as part of the development process, we will optimise the site for the major search engines, and the price includes submission to the 5 main search engines, however, you may decide you wish to use our marketing services after the site is up and running. This can include submission to hundreds of search engines, directories and listings across the Internet, email campaigns, publicity tools as well as ‘real world' marketing.
Post Development Stage
Phew! After all the work we've gone through together, we don't want our business relationship to end, we will be here for you if you ever have any Internet or E-commerce queries, and of course, if you need to update your site we are happy to help.
